Xanthakis School of Foreign Languages

Xanthakis School of Foreign Languages, in Heraklion, Crete, offer English and French language courses to both children and adults. We use modern teaching methods that guarantee our students achieve success in foreign language qualifications! At Xanthakis School of Foreign Languages our central focus is always the children and we have created an ideal environment which helps them to learn. We run language programmes for all levels and we combine a real zeal and passion for our work with an effective, student-orientated educational methodology which helps our children to place their trust in us and to succeed. For adult students, our tutoring centre runs intensive classes in English and French with a small number of students or individual lessons.

(Levels – Classes: Classes for Primary School children depending on school year, Junior classes).

The level of English classes depends on what school year the student attends.

2nd or 3rd Grade → Junior A

3rd Grade → Junior B

3rd or 4th Grade → Junior A & B (in one school year)

Following normal school years:

B class

C class

D class

E class

Pupils who get high marks can complete 4th and 5th Grade in one school year.

Our school works with prestigious and reputable English language universities such as the University of Cambridge, of which we are gold awarded partners, and the University of Michigan.

Certificates Levels:

Β2 level certificate for a good knowledge of English

First (FCE) for schools

Β2 First for Schools is an upper-intermediate level language proficiency qualification with content and topics that specifically relate to the interests and experiences of school-age students. It is officially recognised by the Greek state.

ECCE: Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English

It is an official qualification which certifies English language proficiency at B2 level as defined by the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - certificate of proficiency in English. It is officially recognised by the Greek state.

MSU

The exams were designed by Michigan State University (ELC) English Language Centre. MSU-CELC Β2 level is recognised by ΑΣΕΠ (the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection which selects personnel for the Greek civil service).

C2 level certificate for an excellent knowledge of English

ECPE: Certificate of Proficiency in English

Certificate of Proficiency in English from Michigan State University, one of the leading US universities in the field of language research with many years’ experience in creating & developing English language proficiency exams.

CPE: Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (Cambridge ESOL), is an international certificate which is recognised throughout the world.

MSU: Michigan State University

The Michigan State University exams were designed by the English Language Centre (ELC) at Michigan State University and are held at Anatolia College in Northern Greece and the Deree-American College of Greece in Southern Greece. These exams are recognised by ΑΣΕΠ (the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection which selects personnel for the Greek civil service).

Naturally, our students can work towards any other qualification if they want to sit the exams for the relevant certificate

Younger students - those in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades – can sit the British Council and the Greek American Union exams to gain the relevant level of English qualifications.

STYLE Level 1, 2, 3, 4

STYLE Level 1 exams provide certification that the holder can communicate at Α1 level in English, as outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
STYLE Level 2 exams provide certification that the holder can communicate at Α1 and A2 level in English, as outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
STYLE Level 3 exams provide certification that the holder can communicate at Α2 level in English, as outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
STYLE Level 4 exams provide certification that the holder can communicate at the higher end of the Α2 level in English, as outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

For adults, at Xanthakis School of Foreign Languages, we organise intensive classes with a small number of students, or individual lessons, in both English and French. As a student, you will have the opportunity to work with us to develop a programme that meets your personal needs and goals! In this way, you can obtain the qualification you want quickly.

Robotics Lessons

At Xanthakis School of Foreign Languages, in Heraklion, Crete, we also offer robotics classes!

Our school is delighted to be working with the pioneering world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in our efforts to integrate our young friends into a better world. We hope to help them to develop their skills and their revolutionary new ideas!

Our robotics programme equips students with knowledge so that they can develop cognitively through play. The programme also encourages a sense of cooperation and cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
